CHARTER SCHOOL BREAKFAST FORUM ON EMERGING ISSUES: Charter School Autonomy

Autonomy is a core precept of the charter school movement.  Yet, in the push for performance and regulatory oversight, this value is being eroded.  This program will address the legal framework that defines charter school autonomy, the legal authority of    the PCSB, OSSE and the DC Council and where they come into conflict with charter school autonomy, and strategies on how to address the conflict when charter school autonomy is threatened.

The PCSB is proposing new policies to intensify its oversight of charter school compliance with procurement requirements and restrictions on conflicts of interest and self-dealing.  This program will help schools comply with the procurement requirements of the School Reform Act and PCSB policies. The Marcus Firm and FOCUS will present.

Each Breakfast Forum will have two components: (i) a presentation and discussion on a topic of interest to charter schools; and (ii) an open forum for charter schools to discuss emerging issues and share information so they will be better prepared and positioned to manage these issues.

If you are unable to join us in person, you can register to attend the webinar by visiting https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/773034418.
