Serving students with disabilities can be a challenge for all schools, and charter schools are no exception.  This session will be an in depth review of IDEA’s procedural and substantive requirements so that schools have the knowledge necessary to meet with the needs of special education students.  The session will also review recent and upcoming changes in DC special education law as well as best practices.

Advanced Section 504, 10-11:30am

Serving students with disabilities extends beyond just special education.  In addition to being familiar with IDEA, schools must also be familiar with the requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.  This session will be an in depth review of the procedural and substantive requirements of Section 504 so that schools have the knowledge necessary to meet the needs of students with disabilities who require 504 Plans.
