Application Preparation Program (APP)
About the Program
Since the program’s inception in 2004, 97% of all successful charter petitioners took part in the FOCUS Application Preparation Program. During the APP, Founding Groups begin to design their public charter school according to the terms set forth by the DC Public Charter School Board’s (PCSB) Application Guidelines. FOCUS provides the following support and assistance during the Application Preparation Program:
- One copy of the FOCUS Guide to Starting a Public Charter School in the District of Columbia.
- Spaces at each of the School Design Workshops.
- Basic assistance to complete the Walton Family Foundation grant application if applicable.
The full series of School Design Workshops will take place in the fall of 2011. Founding Groups who register for the Application Preparation Program will be able to attend workshops on the following topics:

Enrollment Criteria
Any founding group may participate in the Application Preparation Program.
Cost
The cost per founding group is $575 for the fall workshop series for up to 3 people to attend each workshop. Payment is due prior to the first workshop.
